5 Places To Sell Your Digital Products Online

Etsy

Most people use or at least have heard of Etsy. It’s the go to place for all things unique and homemade. I operate a business on Etsy selling planners, templates and other digital products so I can personally attest to the platform.

It’s really easy to start an Etsy shop. You can go to Etsy right now and create your free account, upload a digital file and start promoting it. If you don’t have a blog or just want to test the waters, this is the perfect sales platform for it. They charge .20 per listed item and also a 5% transaction fee. If you have a blog you can easily connect it to your Etsy account. Uploading awesome photos is important to draw in potential customers.

You will also need to do your keyword research. I highly recommend eRank. This is a tool specially created for ranking in Etsy. I use it and it’s been a true lifesaver. The price of eRank’s basic plan is $5.99 a month. For that you’ll get access to keyword tools, your shop’s competition, what is hot on Etsy right now, in-depth analysis and much more.

Although Etsy is a great platform that I love the biggest issue I have is there is tons of competition. People may click on your product link and view your shop but they will also see the other options from different shops. Selling direct from your own shop with sales funnels will grant you the highest profitability and conversion rates. However, if you’re just starting out, I say Etsy is definitely the way to go.

ThriveCart

This is the platform to use if you have several products and want to do upsells. Some of the pros of using this nifty digital product software include:

  • Having unlimited products
  • Easy to offer deals and bonuses
  • Excellent for upsell creation
  • Funnel building and learning all in one place
  • One time fee

The biggest negative I saw and really the only one is the upfront fee. They charge a $495.00 fee which you pay once and get to use it for life. If you have the money and you’re ready to really jump into your business with lots of products, I recommend going ahead and starting with ThriveCart. The platform is simple and it does so much of the tedious work for you.

SendOwl

This digital product sales platform makes it really easy to upload your products and share them in your blog posts, through emails and social media. You can customize your products and quickly get them in front of eager buyers. The cost is about $15.00 per month. Although this is a descent platform it does have some drawbacks.

The transaction fees are a bit steep. It does not have an option to create courses or build sales funnels. It also does not offer the best experience for your customers during the checkout process. I add it for the sale of being one of the platforms you may run into but for the above reasons i don’t really recommend it.

ConvertKit

Convertkit has normally an email marketing platform but that has recently changed. They have now added an e-commerce side so mompreneurs like us can sell our digital products like ebooks, courses, etc. directly off of their platform. How awesome! You can market your products with emails and sell at the same time.

And even if you’re on the free version of Convertkit, you still have the capability of collecting payments. The negative I noticed is there isn’t a sales funnel capability. I use Convertkit for my email marketing and have to say it really works well for me. Head on over to Convertkit and sign up HERE for your free trial.

WooCommerce

The online sales plugin for WordPress is WooCommerce. All you have to do to get this software up and going is add the plugin to your site and set it up. It’s free.

This sales plugin is very powerful and works well helping you sell digital products and pretty much do almost anything that you need. However, if your site were to go down, your sales platform is going to crash along with it.

You’ll definitely want to stay on top of site backups and be mindful of how many plugins you run as they can slow a site down. Many people are thrilled with how WooCommerce works and it is a simple and free process to get going.

If you can afford the investment, I recommend ThriveCart. It’s good for scaling your business and helping you grow which is where we all ultimately want to be. Building strong sales funnels help you stand out from the rest and they also teach you as you go so you can learn and run your business well. Consider your budget and if this platform is affordable for you before you jump in. If you can’t afford ThriveCart now then add it as an option after you start earning some money with your business later down the road.
