You need to come up with a good blogging schedule for success. It’s not always easy to figure out the right way to get a routine going but there are ways to make it less complicated.
Today I’m sharing with you a simple routine you should put in place to maximize your efforts.
Routine Blogging Schedule for Success
Routines are good and the same holds true for blogging. Coming up with sticking to a schedule will help you stay on track and avoid burnout and overwhelm.
The First Step is to Define Your Blogging Goals
I’m fairly confident that you’re looking for a blog schedule for success because you’ve heard that one important element to successful money making blogs is they publish consistent content. Consistency gets bloggers as much as 30% more traffic to each post they publish.
It also makes your life much easier when you have an organized schedule that you follow. Instead of spending precious minutes, or hours, trying to figure out what you’re going to write about. A good schedule creates a rhythmic work flow which is another key to success.
Below is a good blogging schedule for you to follow. This is my schedule as well as the general routine of many successful bloggers.
Clean Up Your Email List
Having a huge email list of people who are not interacting with or following you creates clutter and is not ideal. I would much rather have a smaller list of subscribers who are more engaged than a list of inactives.
Dedicate some time each month to cleaning out your email list. Subscribers who have not opened your emails in a few months should be deleted. Getting rid of those who are not active and engaged will help you keep a clean and organized list of people who will be your potential customers.
Social Media Goals
Set monthly goals for social media followers each month and come up with a game plan to obtain that increase in followers. Compare the growth of your social media accounts each month with the growth from the previous month. Create new goals for the next month.
Ask yourself: how much of an increase in followers can I reasonably expect to get this month? What was my increase from last month? Is there something I can do differently to attract followers and increase engagement?
Pinterest Review
Pinterest is a huge traffic producer for many successful bloggers. You want to make sure you’re doing everything you can to work on and grow your Pinterest account.
Come up with and stay on top of a pinning strategy. This is a routine and method you follow for pinning, organization, interaction, using Tailwind and any other methods of increasing clicks and engagement on your Pinterest account.
If you are not familiar with Tailwind, it is a Pinterest-approved platform for scheduling bulk pins and helps increase growth and engagement on your Pinterest account. I highly recommend using it as part of your Pinterest strategy.
Work on creating and scheduling through Tailwind 12-14 new Pinterest pins each week. Participate in Tailwind tribes and share pins in the community. Be sure each of your Pinterest boards has a cover that is aligned with your theme as far as colors and styles go.
Do a monthly review of your Pinterest Analytics. Check to see how your pins have performed and use this information to determine what content you should focus on for the following month. The most engaged pins and boards should be the types of content you narrow your focus on. Try to recreate pins that are more engaged or go viral.
Create a Vision for your Blog
This is a method of keeping yourself on schedule. Each month, you should use a planner or spreadsheet and list the topics of the blog posts you plan to write the following month. Determine how many posts you plan to publish weekly. Schedule time each week for writing your blog posts and set deadlines for yourself. Use Google Calendar to track your schedule and deadlines. Blogging requires self-discipline and following a schedule.
Google Analytics
Perform an in-depth overview of your Google Analytics account each month. Note which platforms were your top referrers and your most popular content. Tailor that data to create future content. Again, moving forward with the most popular and what performs the best. Always take note of any improvements you can make and don’t panic if your traffic dips as blog traffic ebbs and flows.
Sponsored Posts
If you are working with brands and companies, take time out of your monthly schedule to determine which brands you want to pitch for potential sponsorships. Think about products that would work well with your blog niche. Keep a tidy list of brands and email contacts on your computer.
Time Commitments
Another important element of creating a blog schedule for success is understanding the amount of time you’ll need to allocate.
Here are a few things to look into:
- Determine how long your average post will be. For example, writing a 1000-word post usually takes me about 3-4 hours taking into consideration brainstorming, research, writing and editing.
- Decide how many graphics you’ll include with each post. My standard is at least one Pinterest friendly pin for each blog post. I use Canva to design my pins. Sometimes I add other graphics.
- Know exactly what methods you will use to promote your content so you can grow your blog traffic. Think about social sharing, pinning to Pinterest, ads, syndication, sharing and any other type of content distribution you plan to use.
Daily Blogging Schedule for Success
- Stay engaged daily with at least two posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
- Stay on top of Pinterest and be sure to schedule pins to post daily.
- Answer any emails you receive and engage with your followers and blog readership.
- Edit and update any older blog content.
- Prioritize, set timers, meet deadlines, and always stay accessible.
You’re blogging schedule does not need to be overwhelming. It’s important to use a calendar and create a structured plan that is perfect for you and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a successful blogger!
